In the fall of 2017 we traveled to Copenhagen to meet Brøndby IF, one of Scandinavia’s most successful football clubs.

Brøndby IF’s youth academy – called “Masterclass” – has a high priority at the club and legends such as Michael Laudrup, Peter Schmeichel and Daniel Agger are examples of players that have worn the classic yellow-blue team colors. Brøndby IF and Sideline Sports have a 10 year successful cooperation, which we are very proud of.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” text_align=”left”][vc_column][vc_column_text][wpv-view name=”video” limit=”1″ offset=”0″][/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css_animation=”” row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”full_width” text_align=”left”][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Brøndby IF’s Challenge

The club previously lacked a common platform to gather all important data and information on. Knowledge could be spread across multiple computers and locations, meaning that data could disappear and be lost when a coach left the club.

Peder Siggaard, Brøndby IF’s Project Manager, is well-acquainted with the digitalization work and is constantly looking at improvements on the sporting side.

In our interview, Peder raises an important point:

“Digitization is not just about collecting data. It’s also about being able to extract data and use it properly.”

In addition to collecting data, a major priority is to create a clear understanding among the trainers how to use the data and why.

In the club’s strategy work – the “6.4 Strategy” – digitization is one of the 6 focus areas, which is noticeable when talking with management and coaches. In the strategy you can also read that 50% of the A-Team (first team) will come from the Masterclass Academy and that they will achieve at least 20% of the total playing time in the A-Team.

How did Sideline XPS help?

All coaches now have a daily routine to gather all information about training and matches directly into XPS. Exercises with training content are planned and shared, attendance is filled in and data is subsequently analyzed.

Frank Hjortebjerg, Head Coach U17

Frank Hjortebjerg, Head Coach U17, explains how he uses XPS in his daily work:

“In XPS, the club managers have gathered the club’s strategy and planning. With that basis, I work on the material and input my workouts, sessions and training programs. XPS is the foundation and our basic tool for internal communication between coaches, players and management. The program is easy to use but also very flexible when you want to customize something according to your needs.”

Jakob Kristiansen, Physiotherapist for Brøndby Masterclass

Jakob Kristiansen, Physiotherapist for Brøndby Masterclass:

“To me it is extremely important that data is recorded so that you can go back and look at what has actually happened. That all the coaches also have the daily communication available in one place is extremely important for us to be synced with each other.”

We asked Peder Siggaard if he has any tips for other clubs starting to use XPS:

“Keep in mind that implementation of new systems takes time in the beginning. All information contained in the program is based on what you input. If you are patient starting out and implement the processes step by step, you’ll soon see how things start to grow. One of the strengths of XPS is that the more you use it, the better it becomes.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
