Pedro Sequeira, President of the Portuguese Confederation of Coaches, Chair of the EHF Methods Commission, and Coordinating Professor at ESDRM, has spent the past five years integrating XPS into both academic settings and handball coach education programs in Portugal. From his sports technology courses at Rio Maior School of Sport to the Handball Coaches Education Program of the Portuguese Handball Federation, Pedro has introduced more than 1,000 coaches to XPS, creating a connected ecosystem for learning, planning, and collaboration.

Building a Connected Coaching Ecosystem

For Pedro, XPS was the solution to a challenge many educators and coaches face: how to plan, communicate, and share content efficiently without juggling multiple tools. “I was looking for a tool that would allow me and my students to build training plans and annual programs digitally, while collaborating as a community without relying on emails, messages, or other separate platforms,” he explains.

By centralizing planning and analysis in one platform, XPS allows users to go from designing a single exercise to mapping out an entire season. The platform also supports video analysis, enabling coaches and students to review training sessions and competitions seamlessly. This combination of planning and analysis makes it easier to assess past performance and prepare for the future.

Hands-On Learning and Real-World Experience

In Pedro’s university classes, every student gets hands-on access to XPS, using it as the primary teaching platform. This practical approach ensures students aren’t just learning theory – they’re learning by doing. “It’s fundamental, because it allows immediate sharing of what we are building when everyone is online, without having to rely on another platform,” Pedro notes.

The platform’s flexibility means students can work both online and offline and share their work with coaches, colleagues, or athletes. Over time, each student builds a personal, living coaching dossier that grows year after year, tracking exercises, training plans, observations, videos, and analyses – all accessible even on mobile devices.

Preparing Students for Professional Sport

Beyond academic learning, XPS gives students a direct line to professional environments. Pedro highlights that the platform helps students connect theory with practice: “If students are invited to a National Team’s XPS environment, they can see exactly how planning, training, and analysis are conducted at the highest level. This hands-on exposure is crucial for connecting theory with real-world practice.”

The experience also improves employability. By engaging with XPS, students gain expertise in performance analysis, training observation, and planning – increasingly valuable skills in today’s sports industry. Each student can continuously expand their personal database, refining their knowledge and building a robust foundation for their coaching career.

Driving Collaboration and Research

XPS isn’t just about individual learning – it also facilitates collaboration. “Because it allows multiple people to work together in real time, projects can be built and validated faster. Everyone can follow the progress, make corrections, and contribute without delays,” Pedro explains.

This collaborative functionality is especially valuable for research projects. For example, a team developing an observation system for handball can simultaneously contribute, test, and refine the system. With XPS, inputs from multiple researchers can be combined, updated, and validated in real time, increasing productivity and ensuring high-quality results.

A Platform That Grows With You

Pedro sums up XPS as “a tool that unites planning and analysis of training and competition.” But beyond this, the platform’s true value lies in its ability to “adapt and grow with its users.” Coaches, students, and educators can continuously build, share, and refine their knowledge in a living, connected environment.

For Pedro and the thousands of coaches he has worked with, XPS isn’t just a tool – it’s a complete ecosystem for modern sport, where planning, analysis, collaboration, and education all come together in one place.

Digitalization of Portuguese Sport

In Portugal, XPS is already established across a wide range of sports – including football, basketball, handball, volleyball, swimming, table tennis, futsal and rink hockey – and is trusted by more than 1,200 coaches. Among its users are leading clubs such as Sporting, Benfica and Porto, as well as national team programs and training courses, including the Portuguese Handball Federation and its national handball teams and MVP Academy.
