We are delighted to welcome Finland’s most successful bandy team Helsinki IFK to our #XPSFAMILY! Winners of 17 Finnish championships were founded 1897 and currently have junior teams in almost every youth category, women teams and 3 hobby teams as well. The club has the highest goals for the coming season: HIFK want to win the Finnish BANDYLIIGA, increase the
number of junior players, and they are targeting a start of construction of Finland’s first Bandy hall in Helsinki.

We have always dreamed of a digital platform where all coaching-related material could be included.

Juha Latinen, the HIFK head coach, spoke about the struggle of recent period: “For several years, we have used various game analysis software within the HIFK-Bandy coaching staff. However, many of them have not been so efficient considering the time spent using the programs. Time has been wasted on various technical problems and the slowness of the programs.”

So what is it the top level bandy club needs from a coaching software? “We have always dreamed of a digital platform where all coaching-related material could be included for both team and player levels. We wanted a tool that allows us to develop our work with player test data and their tracking, creating new personal target areas, training programs, videoanalysis, rest and recovery monitoring, in-club communication, ice practice drills as well as the analysis of the opposing teams with videoclips.”

“It was a big surprise when we got to know XPS Network. There really is no need to create a new perfect software. It already exists.”

What is the main added value of XPS in HIFK Bandy so far? “All coaches set their own parameters for that they want to monitor and analyze in the game. The differences in the use of the software come from the coaches own ingenuity and how they can communicate the information pedagogically and sensibly to the players.”

Everything is now up to us, says Executive Director

HIFK-Bandy acquired XPS Network not only because of the reasons mentioned above, but also to take advantage of distance coaching to cope with the COVID-19 situation. The Regional State Administrative Agencies also provided support for this project to happen on the full-club scale.

“We now have the same opportunity as big clubs in football – everything is now up to us – how we will make use of XPS Network in the coming years.”

Ari Kukkonen, the HIFK video coach, is also happy with the impact the XPS had in their club: “Great to have XPS on board! This will help us in many different ways to give feedback to the coaching staff and of course the players. With the help of the software we can gather information about the match a lot quicker and pass it on to the players. Information can easily be shared to the entire team or to specific players. All information is in the same place and the space will not run out.”
