Oakland Roots, a club known for its commitment to the community and competitive spirit, recently adopted XPS Network to elevate its internal communication and player development. Founded in 2019, Roots joined USL Championship in 2021 and added a USL W League Women’s team Oakland Soul in 2023. The organisation aimed to find a platform that wasn’t just about efficiency but about creating a seamless flow of communication across all levels of the club. That is why they chose XPS Network. “We made a decision to go with XPS because we felt like we needed something that served the coaches, the players, our performance staff, and the communication between those verticals,” says Jordan Ferrell, Technical Director of Oakland Roots.

This data is then relayed to the performance staff, who ensure that coaches are informed about each player’s condition. Being able to integrate all that information into the same platform allows us to have more rich and valuable insights, says the Roots’ Technical Director.
XPS Health is a true game-changer
The XPS Health medical module has been incredibly valuable to the club’s medical team, simplifying record-keeping and streamlining the sharing of player health information – a true game-changer. “I really love the XPS Health medical module, because it lets me register all my notes, treatments, injuries, and illnesses,” says Codi Simmons, Head Athletic Trainer.
By centralizing health records and tracking, Oakland Roots can maintain comprehensive player profiles that are instantly accessible to all relevant staff. This, in turn, allows coaches and performance staff to make more informed decisions about player readiness and recovery.
