During summer of 2016, Sideline Sports office in Sweden had a visit from Mikael Franzén, head coach for one of Sweden’s best handball team, Alingsås HK. Mikael is one of the biggest winners in history of Swedish handball, with 7 gold medals as a player and three as a coach. He is known to be an extremely meticulous, tactical and analytical coach.

It’s more than 6 years since we first came in contact with Mikael Franzen when he started working with Sideline XPS as a coach. During these six years has his archive of exercises, experiences and videos expanded to a massive knowledge base. Therefore, it is always interesting to take a look on how Mikael plans his trainings, prepares for games and constantly analysis his development and his results.

“I work a lot with participation in Alingsås HK. Players can take part of all the information we create and we always work together to come up with the best solutions for any problem”, he tells us when we ask what the players think of his leadership.

When we met Mikael he was on his way to Denmark for coach course. When this article was written he had just taken his degree in EHF Master Coach, which is the highest international degree for coaches.

We took the chance to ask Mikael some more questions about coaching. Mikael told us that “the biggest challenge for today’s coaches is to sort all the available information and use that with the information you create yourself to communicate with the players”.

It’s evident that development is important to Mikael. It’s not the first time he visits us during a preseason to learn more about the development of XPS. Meeting with our users are always rewarding. We learn from each other and many of the features our developers create are based on ideas from the coaches. So it’s always inspiring to meet successful coaches that can show the progress they’ve done with XSP. We don’t think it’s an accident that the most successful coaches are structures, analytic and effective in their everyday lives. We see the connection everyday when we meet our customers.

And it makes us happy to hear Mikaels opinion of Sideline and XPS after six years together:[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row row_type=”row” use_row_as_full_screen_section=”no” type=”grid” text_align=”left” css_animation=””][vc_column width=”1/6″][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]
